Doors

Site-specific single-screen video work made for the home of a Falkirk resident.

Falkirk resident, Helen and I were matched as a collaborating pair (an artist and a resident) through a public art project by Janie Nicoll and Alex Hetherington. This video piece was made in response to discussions with Helen about important periods in her life that she felt directly changed her. Helen and I spent time talking at her home. ‘Doors’ was made with the intention of being a piece of art for Helen’s home that was relevant to an important time of change and self-awareness in her life. Referencing the film version of a book that Helen and I discussed, ‘Doors’ uses all the clips in the film which has a door opening or closing, keeping the clips in their original sequential order.
